Samrat - Munich

Fine ambience, nice summer garden, great Indian food & beer... what more can I have asked for? Highly economical, Mittags-Menu is the cheapest in town!

I've never actually been in this restaurant, but their take-out is the best of many I've tried in Munich. Best chicken korma I've had in a long time.

Had a great curry, where happy to make something they didnt quite have on their menu. Nice starters, great flavour and certainly no Bavarian "no-flavour" curry in sight. Was busy when we were there but there was still space. This was actually the second indian we went too, the first one (as suggest by a friend) was empty - never a good sign I had a lamb dopiazza that was full of rich caramalised onion taste and flavour Will be going back :)

I have been going to this place and getting takeaways for several years. And it used to be rather good or at least OK by German/Indian standards. But.. for the past year or so the quality has plummented until I have had to say to myself no more! The chicken tikka massala (a good indicator of standards in general) is now unrecognisable. So my advice, unless you like it bland, dont bother (or at least until they get a new chef).

Ate here last weekend and was not impressed. The Masala I had was tasteless, not hot enough (in both senses, the last bit of chicken I had was actually cold). Not going there again

The chappatis and poppadoms are extremely fresh and tasty, and the chicken korma is always top bananas! Yum!

Been there last Saturday. Nice service, vegetable pakora was very good and tasted fresh. Food ordered extra spicy came extra spicy.

Nice food and atmosphere, but only one toilet and no urinals (in the mens - can't comment on the ladies). Not that this has anything to do with the food, but if you're swilling lots of beer, it's better not to leave your toilet breaks too late.

What happened to this place? The food last Friday wasn't just bland but actually off. I thought it was just me but a number of the items on the thali were sour in the way that pre-prepared food which sits out for full services gets on day three or four. Same with the raita which was heavily salted to cover up the sour taste; the runniness gave it away. The "butter chicken" was about as flavourful as the fork used to eat it. We were sick for two days, me and my very pregnant wife.

I had heard good things about this one, the menu looked decent and the popadoms were free with 3 spicy to hot sauces. But: The Dal soup was chunky, almost like muffin dough, and the beef karachi was average at best regarding taste and definitely understaffed regarding beef. The red and green peppers very cleverly disguised themselves as meat; I think there were at most 5 thin strips of beef in my dish. Various drinks were ordered but not brought, we had to remind the waiter two or three times about them. I had no ill side-effects except wishing that the food and service had been as good as the company.
