This place is terrible. Lacks any pulse or atmosphere. Crowd has always been a maximum of 10 (with that being OAPs necking their jaegers). Music is nothing to rave about- mainly Bob Dylan and Dire Straits covers with a harsh Bavarian accent. Oh and I should mention it is extremely vibey if you are a non german.

Posted by: "Anonymous" at 12:25 pm on 21.Jan.2007Had been to Alfonso's in 1999 and it was absolutely brilliant. Music was great, owner was fabulous. The band was outrageous! Three cheers for Insomnia!
Posted by: "Joepie Visser" at 12:01 pm on 20.Feb.2007I was there on Tuesday this week. We had a great time, the music was fantastic (chess board), Alfonsos hasn't changed in 15 years except that the music has improved. 5€ cover charge. Opens at 8pm and starts at 10pm, there were 12-15 customers. It used to get packed out at weekends when the quality of the band improved. Alfonso's is a great place.
Posted by: CitizenSmith at 12:42 pm on 11.Mar.2009Never mind dodgy bad reviews by anonymous posters, everybody. Alfonsos is a classic old school New Orleans bar, complete with smoke, microscopic stage, drum kit that sounds like playing a trash can... and live musicians that make all of this wonderful :-) This is not a place to eat or sip fine drinks. It's about music, mostly live music. They have jazz, Missisippi blues, rock, and yes, on occasion an open stage where you might not exactly know what the next set will be like. It's a great place. So, if you disagree, kindly put your username where your foot is ;-)
