How to Get a Drivers License in Germany

Drivers License in Germany

tfischer
Hi,

I am only 17 and have a Novice license (Class 7) and I am wondering if I can get a drivers license in Germany without any test or practice. Or do I have to go take all the tests in Germany, all the practical and theory? Also, I am not that fluent in German so is there then anyway to take the tests and stuff in English. I live near the Traunstein region but could go to Munich also to do it. Thanks.

you will not able to get any without taking all the tests and practice. Then too, with 17 you will only get the junior license, with which you will have to be accompanied by a person holding a valid license for more than 7 years and having no actuall points in flensburg. (Flensburg is the central location where points for traffic violations are kept).

The license exchange agreement is only for full licenses. I do not know if Canada has an agreement or not. That is immaterial anyway.

With a Class 7 Novice license you can't swap to a German one without doing all the tests. You'd have to do a road test in Canada anyway to get your full license, so why would you think that Germany would let you get a full one without any tests? Germany only accepts full unrestricted licenses from Canada for swapping without any tests.
