Soh. Walzing into munich on this Friday evening, and leaving on Sat morning. Need ideas from the locals on where two [s]young[/s] [s]youngish[/s] [s]not-yet-middleaged[/s] (o drat!) ladies should visit for an interesting evening out.. nice music or spectacular view or great show or just plain cool places to check out. What, in your considered opinion, is a must-not-miss for Munich?
UrbanAngel
Since you're not there for long and it sounds as though you haven't been before, I personally would walk around the city at night time and look at the popular sites ie start at Karlsplatz and walk down to Marienplatz, Isartor to the river, then back to Odeonsplatz and along Maximilianstrasse, going into cafés or pubs which are open.

Thanks UA.. any specific recommendations of where to stop by? and Tollwood?
UrbanAngel
Tollwood is great if you have the time but wouldn't class it as a 'must see'. What would you like recommendations for exactly? Clubs? Restaurants? Hotels? What would you like to do?
m23
since it's just one evening (arriving 8ish) cocktails at a nice pub/club, a tasty dinner and maybe some music/'local culture' (like a great show that's in town? or a local fest?)/'must-sees' thrown in would be great. the walk around you suggested is a good kick-off idea. I thought Tollwood might combine all the above? or am i mistaken?
m23
so now it's confirmed! off to Munich on Friday..
Any specific suggestions please anyone?
UrbanAngel
Sorry, thought someone else would've chimed in! Well yes Tollwood offers cocktails, music and is a local fest and I like it there.. the food is just from stands though (there are benches to sit down on) and the shows you generally have to buy tickets in advance. Have you looked at their website to see what is on that evening?

As far as I can remember, it's only open till 11pm so then you could head into town after that, do the walk I suggested to see the main shopping area, fountain, cathedral and go into the pubs around. Sausalitos am Tal does cocktails but gets very busy!

You could join the Friday Beer Garden group. The meeting point for this friday is not announced, but could be out any minute. Going to a big beergarden is the best thing you could do on a warm summer evening in Munich.

however, the weather isn't looking too good

Thanks for the tips UA, and the Friday Beer Garden group looks good too weather permitting

Any more with any more?

There are hundreds of suggestions, recommendations, tips and advice on the site. Just do a bit of finger-work and you'll find out loads of stuff to do. Read the Events & Meetups sections, use the search function, etc, etc.

dear dear keydeck, this was originally a specific question for a specific evening, i.e. the 3rd of July. but thanks for your kind inputs.
Keydeck
Ok, so specifically for a specific evening, i.e. Friday 3rd of July, read the events and meetups, read the threads that others have made lots of suggestions on, given lots of tips on, etc, etc.
