Looked crazy, cops all over the place, thought it was a bomb at first, then the helicopter landed beside Karlstad.Street as far as Kudamm cordoned off, heard cops shot some guy dead at the Erotik Museum but can't verify if this is true, although it would explain the cops trying to push the crowd back.Got some great pics.

To summarize the article, two policemen wanted to check some guy in front of the Beate Uhse erotic museum. Allegedly he managed to take a gun off one of them and point it at the cop's head, at which point the other policeman shot him several times.
The resulting evidence gathering has fecked bus traffic all over West Berlin, since it's a block from Bahnhof Zoo and 9 major bus lines run through that corner.

So the fact that the cop had his gun taken off him can either mean two things: German cops are not very well trained (their general slobbish appearance and on the job tab smoking backs this up), or that run of the mill beat cops shouldn't be allowed to carry guns because when members of the public (or criminals) are able to get close enough to them, there's a much higher probability of someone winding up dead for no good reason.

I concur, the cops were more worried about the crowd taking pics than anything else.Having said that,at least some of them were alert enough to be clinical as the situation demanded.
