I am looking to buy my daughter (3 years old) and my son (2 years old) an unique German toy. Something in the spirit of the "Buzzy Bee" from NZ, something every German kid had growing up.

I had it all worked out until I saw 3 and 2.

A
Steiff teddybear is about as iconic as it can get.

Laufrad (bicycle without pedals). Be sure to get helmets; the German kids in my neighborhood wore them literally ALL day long.

Do you think you could cease the solecistic misuse of the word "literally"?
Thanks.

Will do, Baldy. And welcome to my ignore list. You are the first! What an honor.

When I saw the words "iconic toy", I did immediately think of the Buzzy Bee
Steiff bears are a classic gift, but it's more of a display than play thing for me, the Laufrad is a great pick though, have had great response when I've given those.

I think the Steiff teddy bears are a terrific idea. You can get relatively cheaper replicas of the classical bears (yet still original Steiff) so that the children can actually play with them. I've been meaning to go visit their museum in Giengen one of these days, since it isn't all that horribly far from me. It's on my list.

You can play with the classical ones... I still have my father's in a box in the attic. He played with it as a kid, I played with it as a kid - OK, you can tell it's not brand new anymore, but which modern type teddybear lasts for decades (OK, I think kids will prefer the softer modern version, but Steiff does these as well - they are not as expensive and look very close to the originals). Think Steiff is now 180 or 190 years old, so this defo is an icon.

Putting somebody on an ignore list is something one does quietly. You seen to have a reprehensible urge to inform
a disinterested forum about your every move and whinny. Attention whore!

I'm going to second the Tigerente. Loved mine as a child and the Janosch books are simply great.
